Portland Women's Rowing
prospective members
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Portland Women's Rowing (PWR) welcomes experienced sweep rowers who are interested in training and racing. Some years, racing takes us from San Diego, to Boston, to Seattle, and beyond. PWR is currently recruiting experienced rowers and coxswains for 2010. This year we'll be staying closer to home, racing locally and building our team. Join us!

Do you have a competitive side looking for an outlet? Are you looking to for a way to include rowing in your post-collegiate life? Is it time to move on from your learn-to-row program? This is the place for you! Join us.

Membership Information
Membership in Portland Women's Rowing gets you access to coached practices on the water, land workouts, and multiple racing opportunities during the Spring and Fall seasons. We are currently practicing on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and sometimes Sunday mornings.

Our current membership dues are $350 per year or $175 for a half year (Jan-June/July-December). Coaching fees are assessed for each season during which a rower actively participates ($235 for Spring, $180 for Fall).  For Summer 2010, we have a special membership deal of $40 per month (that's only $10 a week!), which can be applied to a 1/2-year membership if you want to stay on for fall head race season.

Race fees, uniforms, and travel expenses are not included in membership. Under-27 rowers may opt for a monthly installment membership option that allows payment on a monthly basis.

Ready to Try Us Out?
Great! We'd like to row with you too. We welcome prospective members for guest rows anytime.  Prospective members are required to join us for (up to) three guest rows before deciding whether or not to join. Membership approval is contingent upon coach and board approval.

If you're interested in checking us out, send an e-mail to info@portlandwomensrowing.org and let us know about your rowing or coxing experience. Include your side preference, if you have one. We'll set up a time for you to come out with us. In general, we meet at 5:30 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 am on Saturdays/Sundays. Anticipate 90 minutes on the water (a bit longer on weekends).

Required Forms
All prospective members must fill out and submit a membership application, and sign a USRowing waiver. All PWR members must be current members of USRowing and must also have a swim test on file. (The Portland Parks and Recreation pools have lifeguards on staff that can certify your swim test.)
